Missed lesson policy:
- It is MacPhail’s policy that teachers are
not obligated to do make up lessons.
However with 24 hours notice and if I have space,
I will try to reschedule your lesson.
- Any lessons that I miss will be made up.
Dos and Don’ts:
- When you the parent begin taking lessons, take it seriously.
(The more confident you are with the instrument the better
the teaching experience you will have with your child)
- The reason for parent practice at home is to motivate the child.
- Enjoy your practice, be consistant, be positive, play, have fun and don’t say anything negative about practice.
- Make listening to the CD part of your practice.
- Teach your child how to respect and take care of their instrument.
- At the lesson, your job is to pay attention, take notes and understand what the assignment is for the week. Try to refrain from asking questions, commenting or making any body language until the lesson is finished. Make sure you understand what the main point of the lesson is and you know what to practice at home for that week.
- When practicing with your child, always find something positive to say about her/his playing and be specific. Be sincere and honest about your comments. Keep it fun and work for short periods of time. Practice through out the day with small children. Keep it fun.
